Decorative Nigerian Beaded Crown
This beaded crown comes all the way from Nigeria. We personally, at Atelier ND, are in love with these items. They have character and are special in their own way.
A small piece of history:
The crown of an Oba symbolises the highest level of authority accorded to Yoruba masters. The crown is called an Ade or an Adenla. After being consecrated as leader, a Yoruba Oba is not allowed to show his face to the public. Instead, he wears an Ade or Adenla. Crowns of Obas usually have at least one stylized face, portrayed in applied beadwork and intended to identify the king when he appears in public. The mystery makes it interesting, but then again that’s true in many cases.
The standard is included in the price.
